Eighty-nine of our compatriots were evacuated on the flight that took place today [Monday], caretaker Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev told journalists here after the Government plane carrying the first group of Bulgarians from Lebanon landed at Sofia Airport.
According to Glavchev, it is not known when and how a second evacuation flight will take place.
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Elena Shekerletova said that so far a total of 160 Bulgarians have expressed their desire to be evacuated from Lebanon. The work on organising their return continues and the second part of the evacuation will be scheduled at the earliest possible time, from a safety point of view.
According to information from the Foreign Ministry, there are some 400 Bulgarians in Lebanon, but the figures are conditional, Shekerletova said, adding that not all of them have wished to return to Bulgaria so far.
