site.btaBorder Police Prevent Attempt to Smuggle Migrants at Durankulak

Ten migrants were found during an inspection at the Bulgarian-Romanian border crossing Durankulak/Vama veche, according to the website of Border Police.

On Thursday, in implementation of a plan for cooperation and counteraction of illegal migration across the Bulgarian-Romanian border, a Mercedes driven by a Turkish national was checked.

Border Police found a cache about 50 cm high in the upper part of the loading compartment that ran along its entire length. Ten foreigners were hidden in it.

The migrants, driver and vehicle were detained at the Border Police Station - General Toshevo. Supervising prosecutor Galin Gavrilov told BTA that nine pre-trial proceedings have been initiated. Eight of them are against the migrants on charges of having crossed the State border without permission and the other is against the driver of the vehicle.
