site.bta70 Houses Reported Damaged in Fireworks Depot Blasts

Seventy houses have been reported damaged during explosions in a fireworks depot in Elin Pelin Municipality, which began on July 25 and continued into Wednesday, Mayor Ivailo Simeonov told BTA.

The total number includes 62 houses with smashed windows. "Five of the houses have wall coating cracks, and three have cracks in the walls themselves, but the reports must be confirmed by an expert," Simeonov said.

Officers of the National Investigative Service are on the scene conducting an inspection. The area is cordoned off, Simeonov said. He hopes that those affected by the blasts will receive compensation from the government by the end of September.

The partial state of disaster in the Elin Pelin area was lifted on Monday.
