Torrential Rains, Landslides in Turkiye's Black Sea Region Cause Two Victims and Damage

Two people died in torrential rains in the Black Sea region and in Eastern Turkiye, Haberler website reported on Monday.

The heavy rainfall in Ordu Province in Turkiye's Black Sea Region caused rivers’ overflowing in the villages of Caybasi and Ikizce. The incoming waters have flooded bridges and vast areas of land.

Rescue teams are continuing to deal with the natural disaster. Landslides have formed in several places. Families and domestic animals living near the river have been evacuated.

The Ordu Province has warned villagers that more rainfall and landslides are expected and urged them to take preventive measures. Additional rescue teams and equipment have been sent to combat the floods. 

It is reported that 100 litres per sq m of rain fell in Ordu Province, something that local people do not remember ever happening.

Several rivers have overflowed In Samsun, which is also located in the Black Sea region. In the settlements of Terme and Salpazari, vegetable gardens, fields, houses and workplaces have been flooded, domestic animals drowned.

The Synoptic Service reports that rainfall is expected to continue in the Black Sea region, in Trabzon and Giresun.
