site.btaDemocrats for Strong Bulgaria Will Be Resolute Opposition to Any Attempt at Reverting to Malpractices

The Democrats for Strong Bulgaria (DSB) party, as part of the Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria (CC-DB) coalition, will be a resolute opposition to any attempt at reverting to malpractices and the "Borissov state model", the party said in a press release on Monday.

DSB circulated to the media the decisions adopted at a meeting of the party's national leadership after the results of the June 9 early parliamentary elections were released.

"We admit the substantial loss of support for the CC-DB coalition at the latest parliamentary elections. Against the background of a record-low voter turnout, this is a clear sign that we faced voters with a difficult choice. The blame for this is ours. Dialogue with our supporters, which has always been our greatest strength, has been disrupted through our fault. We need candour and a high decree of criticism in order to find a way to carry on. We will spare no efforts to this end," DSB added.

The party's National Leadership assess the election results, mandates and entrusts DSB Chair Atanas Atanassov to continue the talks within the Democratic Bulgaria coalition and with that coalition's partners of Continue the Change for the creation of conditions for successful work within the new National Assembly. 

The DSB Executive Council will meet on July 6, 2024 to discuss a convocation and holding of a National Meeting of the party.
