site.bta9th Burgas International Film Festival to Take Place, July 19-25
The 9th edition of the Burgas International Film Festival will be held from July 19 to 25 and will show the Bulgarian premiere of six feature films, said the organizers on Thursday.
The presented films include Sweet Dreams by director Ena Sendijarevic (the Netherlands), Beraber (Together) by Mette Gümurhan (Belgium, the Netherlands, and Turkyie), On The Go by María Gisèle Royo and Julia de Castro (Spain), Cu Li Khong Bao Gio Khoc by Pham Ngoc Lan (Vietnam, Singapore, France, and the Philippines), El Paraiso by Enrico Maria Artale (Italy), and La recreation de Juillet by Pablo Cotten and Joseph Rozé (France).
For the first time, some of the films from the competition will be available online on the Neterra.tv platform.
The jury, which will evaluate the full-length titles, is composed of directors Konstantin Bojanov, Carlo Sironi (Italy), Catrinel Danaiata (Romania), as well as Bulgarian actor Julian Vergov. The jury of the short film category will be composed of Director Ventsislav Sariev, who won the award in the short film category in 2023 with his debut film August 13, and Bora Davutluoglu, part of the production teams of various popular Turkish TV series.
Among the highlights of the programme will be the latest film by American director Godfrey Reggio called Once in a Lifetime (2023). The festival programme will also feature a retrospective of Wim Wenders' work, as well as screenings with a focus on Poland with the assistance of the Vistula International Film Festival.
