Addressing the debate in Parliament on the no-confidence motion, Movement for Rights and Freedoms – New Beginning MP Stanislav Anastassov said that the parliamentary parties that submitted the no-confidence motion "are serving a foreign geopolitical doctrine". The motion was submitted by the Vazrazhdane parliamentary group and is supported by the signatures of 54 MPs from MECh, Velichie, and Vazrazhdane.

"We cannot allow you, colleagues, to divert Bulgaria from its Euro-Atlantic course, to steer it away from full NATO membership, as well as from its membership in the EU and the eurozone. What we see at the moment is that you are serving a foreign geopolitical doctrine that is not Bulgarian, that belongs to a country that is not a friendly one, a country that has clearly defined its stance and is working against Bulgarian interests," Anastassov argued.

At the beginning of his speech, he pointed out that the motion was introduced on an extremely distasteful pretext, "exploiting the pain of the family of a worthy Bulgarian – Captain Marin Marinov". "Furthermore, the sponsors of the motion are trying to pit different groups within Bulgarian society against each other, which is not only extremely distasteful but also dangerous. This has nothing to do with Bulgaria's national interest, let alone its foreign policy," Anastassov emphasized.

"There is no doubt that the people's interest lies in Bulgaria being a member of the strongest defence alliance – NATO, which guarantees peace, as well as the EU – the most prosperous economic union. Our foreign policy is part of these two alliances. Unlike our colleagues who submitted the motion, and from whose speeches we understand that they seem to have some inferiority complex about servitude and subordination, we from MRF – New Beginning have the confidence that we can actively participate in shaping these common foreign policies," Anastassov concluded.
