site.btaTennis Player Grigor Dimitrov Reaches Roland Garros Third Round

Bulgaria's highest ranked tennis player Grigor Dimitrov qualified for the third round of Roland Garros after a 6-0 6-3 6-4 win over world No. 43 Fabian Marozsan (Hungary) in Paris on Thursday.

The match was scheduled for Wednesday but was later postponed due to rain. The bad weather conditions in the French capital on Thursday led to a short pause after the second set but Dimitrov maintained his composure and closed the game in the third.

That was the first official meeting on the Tour between the two players. The world No. 10 kicked it off by winning the first 9 games securing a 6-0 3-0 advantage. Marozsan managed to fight back in the second set and got to 3-3 but Dimitrov took back control and did not let his opponent stage a comeback. 

At the next stage of the competition, the Bulgarian will meet the winner of the match between world No. 104 Zizou Bergs (Belgium) and world No. 101 Maximilian Marterer (Germany).

In 2023, Dimitrov reached the fourth round of the French Open where he was eliminated by German Alexander Zverev.
