The Holy Fire from Jerusalem will arrive in Ruse from Romania on Saturday evening, Bishop of Glavinitsa Macarius, Vicar to the Metropolitan of Ruse Naum.
"Since there will be no delegation of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church in Jerusalem, we will use our proximity with the Romanian Church," he said.
Macarius explained that the Romanian Church is planning to bring the Holy Fire from Jerusalem. Thus, clergymen from Ruse will travel to Bucharest, where they will receive the Holy Fire.
Traditionally, the Ruse Metropolitanate takes the Holy Fire from the Romanian city of Giurgiu across the Danube, the reason being the proximity of the two cities.
