Italian Ambassador Giuseppina Zarra Thursday met with Yordan Tsonev, Chairman of the Bulgaria-Italy Parliamentary Friendship Group and of the Budget and Finance Committee, the Italian Embassy said. They discussed the excellent relations of friendship and cooperation between the two countries and the important political, economic, trade and cultural synergies aimed at bringing Rome and Sofia even closer.

Ambassador Zarra was accompanied by the new Deputy Head of Mission, Edoardo Di Paolo.

Stressing the importance of parliamentary diplomacy, the Ambassador expressed the desire of the Italy-Bulgaria bilateral section of the Inter-Parliamentary Union to boost cooperation with the recently established Group, recalling the visit to Sofia of Lorenzo Cesa, President of the bilateral section, who arrived in November to promote the bid of Italian cuisine for inclusion in the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage list.
