Bulgaria’s, Armenia’s Sciences Academies Sign Memorandum of Understanding

A Memorandum of Understanding between the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (BAS) and the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Armenia was signed here on Friday by their presidents, Prof. Julian Revalski and Acad. Ashot Saghyan, reported BAS.

The document covers a wide range of scientific fields, including engineering, biomedicine, biodiversity and ecology, climate change and natural disasters, astronomy and space research, social sciences and humanities. There will be opportunities for exchanges between scientists from the two academies for the organisation of scientific events.

At the signing ceremony Prof. Julian Revalski said that he is confident in the success of the joint research of the two academies. The President of the Armenian Academy, Acad. Ashot Saghyan, said that the cooperation can start with research in the field of molecular biology and microbiology. He added that he was impressed by the team and the equipment he saw during his visit to BAS’s Institute of Microbiology and the Institute of Molecular Biology.

During his two-day visit to Sofia, the Armenian Academy of Sciences’ President visited three BAS institute: the Institute of Microbiology, the Institute of Molecular Biology and the Institute of Biophysics and Biomedical Engineering.
