MPs adopted on first reading amendments to the Administration Act providing for an increase of the capacity of the Border Police. The amendments, submitted by GERB-UDF and the Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF), were supported by 138 MPs with two votes "against" and 44 abstentions.
Earlier on Friday, Parliament adopted on first reading amendments to the Ministry of Interior Act to put the Ministry in charge of security at the facilities of the State Agency for Refugees and all other facilities for refugees. The two bills propose to increase the capacity of the Border Police by 1,264 officers for the protection of refugee centres and to strengthen border security.
The deputies accepted that the deadline for proposals between the first and second (conclusive) reading would be four days.
