An air alert was issued in the Ukrainian city of Odesa and Odesa Oblast at 12:47 am, the Odesa City Council said Wednesday.

In a Telegram post, the Operational Command South warned of an increased threat of missile strikes from the Black Sea.

The post further reads that Russia has prepared three small missile carriers equipped with 24 Kalibr missiles.

The Bulgarian community in the Odesa Oblast is the third largest, numbering over 150,000 people, according to the official 2001 census in Ukraine. Between 50,000 and 60,000 Bulgarians reside in Odesa. The most densely Bulgarian-populated areas are Bolhrad, Izmail, and Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi.
