The President of the International Aikido Federation, Wilko Vriesman, spoke very flatteringly about the level of Bulgarian competitors who practice the Japanese martial art. Vriesman is on a visit to Bulgaria.
"This is the third time I am here, and the second time I am here as Acting President of the International Federation. It is a great honour for me to be here and to visit the Bulgarian Aikido Federation, which is our trusted partner”, he said.
Vriesman emphasized that aikido has a long history in Bulgaria and that the level of the sport in this country is very high.
Earlier in the day, Vriesman held a meeting with Bulgarian Youth and Sports Minister Dimitar Iliev. The head of the International Aikido Federation will also meet with the management of the Bulgarian National Sports Academy on Friday.
