site.btaInvestor Company Withdraws Construction of Gneiss Quarry in Hrabrino

A gneiss quarry will not be built in the Rhodope village of Hrabrino, said Rodopi Municipality Mayor Pavel Mihailov on Tuesday. 

Mihailov had concluded an agreement with the investor company Eolit OOD, who renounced its investment intention after residents of the municipality initiated signatures against the construction of quarries for the extraction of gneiss schist in the concession area in mid-June. 

People are worried that such a quarry will significantly worsen the state of the environment by causing air and water pollution in the area. Eolit OOD stated that after having read the opinion of the Municipal Mayor, the Village Mayor and the opinion of the residents of Hrabrino, they will comply with the circumstances and withdraw their investment intention.
