Prime Minister Nikolay Denkov made a second invitation to meet with the protesting miners and energy workers. He called on them to confer with him in Mines Maritsa East EAD in Radnevo at 4 pm on Tuesday to discuss the territorial just transition plans for the coal-mining regions of Stara Zagora, Pernik and Kyustendil, the Council of Minister said in a press release here on Monday.

The PM's invitation was addressed to more than 30 representatives of trade unions at national, regional and local level in the three regions and in the enterprises affected by Bulgaria's plans for phasing out of coal plants by 2038.

A few hours later, Podkrepa Confederation of Labour representative in Maritsa East Mines Biser Binev said to BTA that the Podkrepa union will not accept Prime Minister Nikolay Denkov's invitation to a meeting. "Today we clearly and precisely indicated what our demands are. We insist on a meeting in Parliament with all parties represented in Parliament and their chairs," he added. He added that if the Prime Minister wishes, he can visit the protests.
