Police officers from Bulgaria, Portugal, Slovenia, Poland, Serbia and Czechia will drill on-site joint actions according to various scenarios for bringing under control incidents on board trains and at railway stations and restoration of order, the Bulgarian Interior Ministry said in a press release on Wednesday.

The international exercise is hosted by the Bulgarian Interior Ministry's General Directorate of Gendarmerie, Special Operations and Counterterrorism in its capacity as member of the European Association of Railway Police Forces (RAILPOL).

Bulgarian Deputy Interior Minister Kiril Tsenkin greeted the participants in the exercise from the six countries. "In a global world, on-site cooperation among teams from various countries is acquiring ever greater importance. Adequate response is decisive for keeping public order and for handling serious incidents. In such cases, fine training saves lives," Tsenkin said at the start of the exercise.

RAILPOL Secretary General Jean-Bertrand Pothin and the Association's Executive Director Elisa Sidgwick also greeted the participants and wished them successful work.
