A total of 411,190 foreign citizens have received health and medical services in Turkiye in the first quarter of this year, the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkiye (TOBB) said on Monday. Revenues for this period exceeded USD 453 million.

There has been an increase in the variety of services preferred by foreigners for health tourism.

"In the beginning, foreigners preferred to use health services mainly for hair transplants and plastic surgery. Currently, there is a boom of patients from European countries using medical and health services in many sectors such as gynecology, ophthalmology, general surgery, orthopedics and cardiology," said TOBB’s Turkish Fair Sector Council Chairman Cihat Alagoz.

He pointed out that with the promotion of Turkiye's potential in health tourism at international health fairs, private hospitals in Turkiye have started meeting directly with representatives of the health sector in various European countries.

Alagoz noted that representatives of 60 of the most prestigious hospitals and clinics in Turkiye participated in the health tourism exhibition in Amsterdam, the Netherlands in 2023. He stressed that unlike before, when interest in treatment options in Turkiye was mainly shown by Turks living in the country, this year there has been great interest from the Dutch themselves.
