According to the co-chair of Democratic Bulgaria, Hristo Ivanov, the easiest way to reach an agreement on the figure of the Prosecutor General in the current political situation is to no longer have one. He added that this is not necessarily the best solution for the prosecution service.

"I have always thought that some clarity should still exist as to who is leading this organization with clear accountability, but in the current political situation the easiest thing to agree on is simply to no longer have such a figure, so that none of the players wonders whether he will have a chance to determine to a greater extent than the others who will be the next chief prosecutor," Ivanov said.

Asked about a statement by MP Delyan Peevski that he had spoken to him on the topic of removing the figure of Prosecutor General, Ivanov pointed out that he had spoken publicly on this topic many times. 

Ivanov said he accepts with a smile the fact that many political formations have started to claim that they were the first to raise the issue of judicial reform, and he is glad that they have suddenly discovered that this topic makes sense and are starting to want to lead in it, "but we have the responsibility that we actually get to a result and that it is good."
