site.btaSupreme Judicial Council Adjourns Meeting for Early Dismissal of Prosecutor General, it will Continue on June 12

The Plenum of the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) interrupted its meeting on the procedure for early dismissal of Prosecutor General Ivan Geshev. It will continue on 12 June morning. On June 8 the meeting continued for more than 13 hours.

The procedure was launched after a motion was made by four members of the Prosecutors Chamber of the SJC over a statement made by Geshev on May 15 during a press conference, at which he used the expression "political trash", which they said undermined the prestige of the judiciary.

At the same meeting, the procedure for dismissal of the Prosecutor General was terminated on another request by members of the Prosecutors Chamber, as they withdrew it.
