Day of Sofia
Sofia, September 17 (BTA) - Museums in Sofia will be free for
all visitors on Wednesday as the Bulgarian capital celebrates
the day of its patron saints, Faith, Hope, Charity and Sophia.
Open-door day has been announced for the Vrana museum park, the
archaeological museum of the St. Sophia basilica, the Sofia City
Art Gallery, the Dechko Ouzounov Gallery and the Sofia Zoo.
For the first time on this day, the royal cart of King Ferdinand
will ride in the Sofia streets. The cart was a gift for the
wedding of Ferdinand and Marie Louise on April 8, 1893.
The route for the Wednesday ride of the cart will start at the
Museum of Sofia's History down the Marie Louise Boulevard to the
square outside the Parliament building and back.
The Day of Sofia are expected to bring together President Rosen
Plevneliev, Prime Minister Georgi Bliznashki and Sofia Mayor
Yordanka Fandakova for a raising-of-the-flags ceremony at the
St. Sophia basilica.
Various events for Sofianites and visitors to the capital city
will be held throughout the day. LN/
