Economic Policy Minister:
Investing in Tomorrow's Future
Is Main Challenge to Economic Growth

Sofia, November 24 (BTA) - "The main challenge is to invest not
in our existence today but in the conditions for sustainable
future tomorrow," Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for EU
Funds and Economic Policy Tomislav Donchev said at the 11th
edition of the Vienna Economic Forum quoted by his press centre.

"It is clear for everyone that we are living in a time of crisis
- not only financial and economic but also geopolitical,"
Donchev said. Yet, the crisis offers opportunities, if there is
a political will for tough decisions and implementation of
long-term reforms, he added.

He outlined some of the main Government's priorities: a clear
vision and readiness to ensure a sustainable environment for
economic development, achieved through stability of the
institutions; conditions for long-term development of the
society and the business; efficient and transparent system for
management of the resources from European solidarity; national
and energy independence; high-quality education; and protection
of social rights.

Donchev underscored that Bulgaria's participation in the Vienna
Forum at a high political, diplomatic and economic level is a
sign that the country has a political will and enjoys the
confidence of its partners in the Balkans and the rest of
Europe.

Regarding the economic policy, the Government attaches priority
to the achieving of growth through improving the conditions for
business and for exports; e-governance as a guarantee for
efficient administration and prevention of corruption;
alleviation of the administrative burden; promotion of foreign
partnerships and stressing Bulgaria's potential as a destination
for investments with high added value, Donchev stated. /LI/TK/
