No Losses of Funds under OP Transport in 2014 - Report

Sofia, December 11 (BTA) - There have been no losses of funds
under Operational Programme (OP) Transport in 2014, said Galina
Vassileva, Director of Programme and Project Coordination
Directorate at the Ministry of Transport, as quoted by her
ministry. She was speaking at a meeting of the Monitoring
Committee of the National Strategic Reference Framework 2007 -
2013.

The meeting was unveiled by Deputy Prime Minister for EU Funds
and Economic Policy Tomislav Donchev and the performance under
all programmes was reported in its course.

"All existing resources have been contracted and about 85 per
cent of OP Transport have been paid," Vassileva said. The
principal priority of the ministry's team is to speed up the
work and minimize the risk of loss of funds at the end of 2015.
Alienation procedures and archaeological surveys continue to be
the main reason for slowing down large infrastructure projects.

To date, five projects within the scope of OP Transport have
been identified as high-risk ones. Two of these (Lot 4 of
Strouma motorway and Lot 1 of Maritsa motorway) are in the road
sector and three are in the railway sector (Septemvri-Plovdiv,
Plovdiv-Bourgas and Dimitrovgrad-Svilengrad). These have been
subjected to daily monitoring and the ministry is in constant
contact with the beneficiaries and the contractors to streamline
time-limits and speed up work. "In spite of the difficulties,
not a single project has been stopped and there are no blocked
payments under OP Transport," Vassileva underscored.
