Yordan Bakalov Appointed Head of Military Intelligence

Sofia, May 19 (BTA) - Defence Minister Nikolay Nenchev confirmed
to journalists on Tuesday that he has appointed former
caretaker interior minister Yordan Bakalov as the Military
Information Service's Director.

Among the reasons Nenchev listed for appointing Bakalov were his
high morals and the fact that he is exceptionally well prepared
for this type of work.

Asked about the measures Bulgaria must take in response to the
hybrid war threat, Nenchev explained that the best way to
approach it is to have an open discussion with the people and
speak the truth.

Answering a question about the rumours that he will be replaced
and whether this will distract him from the urgent tasks his
Ministry has to deal with, Nenchev said that he is not worried
about the rumours, spread by the Russian propaganda.

Minister Nenchev took part in a forum titled "Are We Ready to
Stand up for Our Values? The World between Diplomacy and
Weapons," organized by the Konrad Adenauer Foundation and the
Institute for Democracy and Stability in Southeastern Europe.
