50% of Businesses in Sunny Beach Resort Conceal Turnover

Bourgas, on the Black Sea, June 22 (BTA) - An inspection has established that a large number of bars, night clubs, coffee shops and car parks in the Sunny Beach resort conceal their turnover, the National Revenue Agency said on Wednesday.

Between June 17 and 19, tax inspectors checked nearly 300 commercial outlets.

During an inspection a car park reported a 1,200 per cent increase in turnover from a week earlier, when as few as 13 cash receipts were issued. In another case, a disco club which is part of a popular chain reported a turnover of 32,000 leva on the night when inspectors visited the site compared with three times less during the previous week. Another night club reported fivefold more revenues from a week earlier and ninefold more from June 13 2015.

The owners of several establishments will be audited and inspectors will continue to monitor business establishments throughout the whole season along the Black Sea coast.

Speaking in the Council of Ministers on Wednesday, Tourism Minister Nikolina Angelkova told journalists that it is better to deploy police at the Sunny Beach resort in order to ensure the safety of tourists.

Interior Ministry Chief Secretary Georgi Kostov said that the Ministry is considering deploying police at the exits of the resort. Angelkova said that now they are guarded by private security companies.
