Bulgarian Pupils Win 6 Medals at International Mathematical Olympiad in Hong Kong

Sofia, July 15 (BTA) - Bulgarian pupils won six medals at the 57th International Mathematical Olympiad in Hong Kong, the Leaders of the Natural Sciences Olympic Teams Association said Friday.

The medals went to pupils from 11th and 12th grade of the Sofia High School of Mathematics, the American College and the High School of Mathematics and Natural Sciences in Bourgas. Violeta Naydenova, Hristo Papazov and Atanas Dinev won bronze medals, while Alexander Cherganski, Daniel Atanassov and Stanislav Slavov won silver.

The Bulgarian team was headed by Prof. Peter Boyvalenkov, Assoc. Prof. Emil Kolev and Alexander Makelov.

Pupils from 117 countries took part in the olympiad.
