Prime Minister Borissov Speaks with German Chancellor Merkel, Hungarian PM Orban, Serbian PM Vucic

Sofia, September 9 (BTA) - Prime Minister Boyko Borissov spoke over the phone with German Chancellor Angela Merkel, and with the prime ministers of Hungary, Victor Orban, and of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, the government's information service said late on Thursday evening.

Borissov and Merkel discussed the preparation of the EU summit in Bratislava on September 16 which will focus on the migration crisis in Europe and the need to find a common European solution. Borissov reiterated his position that the EU and Turkey should solve their mutual problems and the all EU member states should work to implement the agreements achieved so far and the undertaken commitments.

In the phone call to Orban, the two prime ministers concurred that the Bratislava summit should discuss important questions about the state of the EU after Britain's decision to leave it, as well as the question of the increasing migration flows. Orban is to pay an official visit to Bulgaria on September 13 and 14 at Borissov's invitation. The two prime ministers will visit the fence built along the Bulgarian-Turkish border to deter migrants.

The migration crisis was the main topic as well of the call to Vucic. The two prime ministers concurred that two-way communication should increase, as well as the cooperation in the area of security. Borissov and Vucic also discussed opportunities for cooperation in energy, and the construction of the gas interconnector between the two neighbouring countries.
