January 21 (BTA) - Bulgarian National Assembly Chair
Tzveta Karayancheva and Sean O'Fearghail, Speaker of the Lower
House of the Irish Parliament discussed ways to advance
parliamentary cooperation between the two countries on Monday.
Karayancheva is visiting Ireland to attend the centenary
celebrations of the 100th anniversary of the first meeting of
the Irish Parliament.
Meeting with O'Fearghail, Karayancheva said that Bulgaria and
Ireland have parliamentary traditions of which they should be
proud. Karayancheva extended an invitation to O'Fearghail to
attend the 140th anniversary of Bulgaria's Constituent Assembly
in 2019.
The Bulgarian Parliament Speaker underscored that cooperation
between groups for friendship in the two legislatures may boost
parliamentary dialogue between Bulgaria and Ireland. The
Bulgaria Parliament has set a group for friendship with Ireland
and Bulgaria would to have an equivalent group in the Irish
Parliament. Karayancheva said that this would improve
possibilities for exchange of opinions on legislative issues,
bilateral relations and the EU agenda.
Tsveta Karayancheva presented the Plovdiv European Capital of
Culture 2019 project.
Karayancheva thanked for a possibility for the Bulgarian
community in Ireland to have its own schools in Dublin and
Shannon and uphold its culture and education as more than 3,000
Bulgarians work or study in Ireland. RY/PP
