site.btaSeaside Construction Projects to Undergo Comprehensive Checks

January 26 (BTA) - A comprehensive
review of the documentation for the construction projects at the
 Arapya and Gradina camping sites and the Alepou Beach will
begin on Monday, National Construction Control Directorate
(NCCD) chief Ivan Nestorov told a news conference in Bourgas on
Saturday.

Nestorov's remark follows Friday's suspension of construction
activities in places along the southern Bulgarian seacoast over
irregularities committed by the investors and reported by
environmentalists.

Friday's checks, ordered by Prime Minister Boyko Borissov,
involved experts from the NCCD and its regional office in
Bourgas, and the Agency for Geodesy, Cartography and Cadastre.

An in-depth inspection is planned at the Arapya Camping Site,
where construction work has not been aligned with the Black Sea
Coast Spatial Development Act. There are problems with the
engineering infrastructure at Arapya. The project stipulates the
 building of a holiday village of 23 houses, but there are no
electricity and water schemes. The case has been referred to the
 prosecution office in Tsarevo, Nestorov said.

At the Gradina Camping Site, the investor halted the
construction activities voluntarily. This site will also be
inspected in great depth. The project is for the construction of
 parking areas and restaurants.

At the Alepou Beach, the plan is to build three residential
buildings. The investor is carrying out site reinforcement
activities. The Regional Development and Public Works Ministry
will send inspectors there to check whether the reinforcement
structures really serve the declared purpose. RY/VE
