December 6 (BTA) - Support for business startups encourages many young people to seek a career in Bulgaria, said President Rumen Radev in an address Friday at a meeting of representatives of Bulgarian startups and German businesses operating in Bulgaria.

The meeting takes place at the President's Initiative in partnership with the German-Bulgarian Chamber of Industry and Commerce (AHK Bulgarien).

In the past five years over 2,000 startups have been launched in Bulgaria, with 15,000 new jobs. The capital Sofia is among the top ten destinations for startups, said Radev. He added that Bulgaria has all the necessary components for business startups: knowledge, people, ambition and bold business ideas. What can be done according to him is to facilitate better connections between these components and between the Bulgarian startup ecosystem and other large systems.

The head of State also noted that Germany is Bulgaria's biggest foreign trade partner and strategic investor. Not only does the German business provide the know-how technology, but it also introduces good business practices which improve the economic environment and business culture in Bulgaria, said Radev.

AHK President Tim Kurth noted the importance of startups and innovations, adding that they build a bridge between the present and the future. He said that such meetings and initiatives help Bulgarian startups to step on the global stage.

Bulgarian startups presented their activities and business ideas and outlined their expectations about the country's startup ecosystem. PP
