site.btaBSP for Bulgaria Parliamentary Group Returns Unfulfilled Third and Last Government-forming Mandate in 46th National Assembly

September 7 (BTA) - As it had announced beforehand, the
BSP for Bulgaria parliamentary group returned on Tuesday the
unfulfilled third and last mandate to form a government under
the 46th National Assembly which it had received from President
Rumen Radev.

The mandate was returned to Radev in the Presidency building.
The President congratulated the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP),
 the lead formation in the parliamentary group, for their
responsible approach in the negotiations to form a cabinet.
"Alas, we are now faced with new elections and new
negotiations," Radev said.

BSP leader Kornelia Ninova said that the BSP has done its best
in the name of "reason, dialogue and responsibility". "However,
our efforts were not reciprocated with support from the There is
 Such a People Party, the Democratic Bulgaria Alliance, and Rise
 Up BG! Here We Come, so that we return the government-forming
mandate unfulfilled," Ninova said.

The BPS were offered the third and last mandate after the
largest group, There Is Such a People (TISP), unsuccessfully
completed their mandate, and the second largest group, GERB-UDF,
 promptly returned the mandate on August 20.

TISP has 65 MPs in the 240-member legislature, GERB-UDF 63, BSP
for Bulgaria 36, Democratic Bulgaria 34, the Movement for Rights
 and Freedoms 29, and Rise Up BG! Here We Come! has 13. To be
elected, a proposed cabinet must be supported by more than half
of the MPs present.

By Constitution, the President now has to disband Parliament,
schedule new parliamentary elections and appoint a caretaker
