28 Parties, 11 Coalitions Submit Documents to Register for Oct. 27 Parliamentary Elections

A total of 28 parties and 11 coalitions have submitted documents for registration for the October 27 snap parliamentary elections, the Central Election Commission told BTA Wednesday evening as the deadline for submission of documents expired.

According to the CE-approved election timeline, the parties and coalitions had between September 2 and 11 to register. September 16 - 24 is the time slot for registration of independent candidates backed by nomination committees. CEC has until September 21 to register parties where a court has overturned CEC's refusal to register them. By the same date, parties and coalitions can make changes in the name and composition of a coalition they have registered. September 24 is the deadline for coalitions to apply to be stricken off the register for participation in the elections.

Twenty-tree parties and 11 coalitions applies for registration for the June 9, 2024 elections for national legislature and for European Parliament. Of these, 20 parties and 11 coalitions were registered.
