site.btaSofia Municipality Collects Mln 320.5 Lv in Revenue in First Seven Months of 2014

Sofia, August 4 (BTA) - Sofia Municipality has collected 320.5 million leva in the first seven months of this year, which is 60.5 per cent of the annual projection, said Sofia Deputy Mayor responsible for finance, Doncho Barbalov, during a Monday news conference here.

Barbalov said that a total of 18.9 million leva more were collected in the first seven months of 2014, compared to the same period last year. Tax revenue amounts to 151.3 million leva, which is 3.5 million leva more than the January-July period of 2013, the Deputy Mayor explained.

Non-tax revenue amounts to 169.1 million leva, or 15.3 million more than last year. A total of 5.13 million leva have been collected in the form of technical services fees, which mainly include the issuing of construction permits. This is some 2 million leva more than last year, Barbalov said.

Sofia Municipality has collected 2.2 million leva as of end-July from rent and advertising. This is a significant increase, compared to the first seven months of 2013, when only 1.3 million leva were collected, Barbalov said. A total of 35.4 million leva were collected from property acquisition taxes, which exceeds last year's revenue in that category by almost 2 million leva. 

The Deputy Mayor explained that Sofia Municipality has 1.2 million leva at its disposal for cleaning river beds. The Municipality is monitoring on a daily basis the water level in the micro-dams of Mramor, Murchaevo and Suhodol 2, Barbalov went on to say.
