Sofia, August 7 (BTA) - The Bulgarian government will release a statement, reacting to reports that Russia is imposing a one-year ban on food imports from countries that are enforcing economic sanctions against it, the government information service said on Thursday. No date was specified.

Approached for comment, the Agriculture and Foods Ministry said it was unable to provide an estimate about the possible losses for Bulgarian producers and the national economy.

A BTA report earlier on Thursday, based on a story in Rossiyskaya Gazeta, said that the Russian government is about to draw up a list of the banned foods, which will be modified accordingly. The newspaper commented Wednesday's decree by President Putin to ban farm produce, raw materials and food imports from countries that are enforcing economic sanctions over Russia's role in Ukraine.
