Search for Corpbank Majority Owner
Tsvetan Vassilev Is in Interpol's Competency,
not in Prosecuting Magistracy's Powers
Sofia, September 8 (BTA) - The search for Corporate Commercial
Bank's (Corpbank) majority owner Tsvetan Vassilev is not in the
powers of the prosecuting magistracy, but in the competency of
Interpol, reads a press release published by the prosecuting
magistracy on Monday in light of information that Vassilev is in
Serbia.
The prosecuting authority recalls that Serbia is member of
Interpol and the Bulgarian prosecuting authority does not have
powers there, or in any other country for that matter. A
European arrest warrant has been issued for Vassilev, who is
declared wanted on the Schengen Information System.
Vassilev has been charged with embezzlement. He is on
Interpol's wanted persons list. Corpbank has been inoperable
since June 21 due to a lack of liquid assets and has been
placed under special supervision by the central bank to allow a
thorough audit and possible restructuring. VI
