Bulgarian President, PM, Foreign Minister Send Turkish Counterparts Condolences after Deadly Ankara Attack

Sofia, February 18 (BTA) - President Rosen Plevneliev, Prime Minister Boyko Borissov and Foreign Minister Daniel Mitov Thursday condemned Wednesday's terrorist attack in Ankara that killed at least 28 people, and offered condolences for the victims' relatives.

President Plevneliev sent a message of condolences to his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan over the deadly attack in Ankara, said the President Press Secretariat Thursday.

"I was shocked to hear the news of this terror attack. No cause justifies such a barbaric act and such inhumanity," the President writes. He expresses his belief that the competent Turkish authorities will soon find the masterminds and the perpetrators of the attacks, and that they will be punished with the full severity of the law.

"We have a duty to continue fighting terrorism and offer, in the name of peace and humanity, a resolute response to this global threat," says the President.

He offers condolences for the families of the victims and sends his best wishes for fast recovery of the people injured in the bomb blast.

Prime Minister Borissov sent a message of condolences to his Turkish counterpart Ahmet Davutoglu in which he offers condolences to the families of the victims of the bloody terrorist attack in Ankara, the Government Information Service said. "In this hard and responsible moment for Turkey and Southeastern Europe, Bulgaria stands next to the government and people of the neighbouring and friendly country, and condemns most stronly the horrific acts of violence and terrorism," the message reads.

A statement of Foreign Minister Daniel Mitov reads that Bulgaria condemns most firmly Wednesday's bloody attack in the capital of its neighbour and ally. "I share the grief of the Turkish people and I stand next to our Turkish friends in this undeclared terrorist war against our common values," the minister states. The victims of the subsequent new blast in the area of Diyarbakir confirm the need of all countries' unity in the common fight against terrorism, Mitov notes.

In a position sent to the media Thursday, the Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF) expresses its deep grief at the wave of terrorist attacks in Turkey and strongly condemns the bloody encroachment on the highest human values: life and freedom. "In their difficult moment, we grieve together with the Turkish people," the party's position reads.
