Committee of Inquiry into Allegations of Russian, Turkish Interference in Bulgaria's Internal Affairs Might Transfer its Functions to Foreign Policy Committee

Sofia, March 1 (BTA) - At its first meeting since its establishment on February 19, the Ad Hoc Committee of Inquiry into All Facts and Circumstances Related to Allegations of Interference, on the Part of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Turkey, in the Internal Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria will probably transfer its functions to the parliamentary Foreign Policy Committee, GERB Floor Leader Tsvetan Tsvetanov told journalists Tuesday.

The Foreign Policy Committee will hold the corresponding hearings, such as that of the Foreign Minister, and thus there will be no need of a specialized ad hoc committee of inquiry, Tsvetanov said.

On February 27, Prime Minister Boyko Borissov asked Tsvetanov to use all diplomatic mechanisms in Parliament and to assess the need for the creation of the ad hoc committee. Borissov stressed that he is not interfering in the National Assembly's work, but was adamant in his position that nothing good will come out of this and it will deteriorate Bulgaria's relations with Russia and Turkey.
