Nearly 50 fishing boats filled the area of the Sea Port in Varna on Sunday to draw attention to the problem of illegal and unregistered fishing sites along the Northern Black Sea coast, said Emil Milev, Chair of the Black Sea Sunrise Association.

"Claims have been circulating for several weeks that Varna is not a fishing town, but today we prove this is not true", Milev told the media. According to him, the action shows that there is a fleet of fishing boats in the region and that the Sea Port in Varna is too small for them. He added that the vessels will remain in the area until Monday.

Milev said that various fishing associations have had meetings with the Regional Administration and the Municipality, but the most important thing is to start the projects for the extension of two ports near Varna, which will largely solve the problems of the fishermen.
