Georgi Valev, a member of the Killers crime syndicate that was broken up in 2010, was convoyed February 23, 2023 from prison to the Sofia Administrative Court for a hearing on one of multiple cases he had initiated against various respondents. On his way to the court, the handcuffed Valev sported a fedora, sunglasses and a Che tee. He was smoking a cigar. Approached by BTA for comment, the Justice Ministry's DG Security said that tobacco products and sunglasses are not on the list of prohibited items for inmates. Valev is serving a life sentence for his role in the Killers syndicates.
