site.btaBulgarian Tennis Player Grigor Dimitrov Secures First Top 5 Win Since 2021

Bulgaria's best-ranked tennis player Grigor Dimitrov secured Sunday his first win against a top 5 opponent since October 2021. Dimitrov won 6-3 7-5 against world No.4 Holger Rune in Beijing and qualified for the quarter-finals of the ATP 500 tournament in the Chinese capital. 

That was also his first win against Rune, who got the better of him at the eight finals of Wimbledon earlier in 2023. 

In the next round Dimitrov will play against world No. 7 Jannik Sinner.

Dimitrov kicked off the tournament with a comeback against American Mackenzie McDonald. The Bulgarian was trailing by 2-6 1-5 but managed to turn things around and win 2-6 7-6(4) 6-1.
