Programme Presented for Bulgaria's Kanatitza Festival in Canada Next Month

The Bulgarian-Canadian Society of British Columbia Thursday presented on its Facebook page the programme of Kanatitza, a Bulgarian festival to be held in Vancouver from September 22 to 24. The festival features events with participants from Toronto, Calgary, Kitchener, Montreal, Denver, Los Angeles, San Francisco, San Diego, Vancouver.

Also within the programme, Dilyana Kurdova will present her book "Thoughts on Bulgarian Women's Traditional Costume" and Dayana Dimova will perform Bulgarian folklore songs. 

On September 22, there will be a Bulgarian folklore concert with music and dance performances, an exhibition of the competition entries for the festival's logo, and a reception at Michael J. Fox Theatre in Burnaby. There will also be short presentations on the history of the Bulgarian diaspora in Vancouver.

On September 23, a big Bulgarian horo [a traditional chain dance] in front of Burnaby Art Gallery. Visits to tourist destinations will be organized. 

On September 24, the festival will close will a visit to the capital of British Columbia, Victoria.

The Kanatitza Festival was named after the traditional Bulgarian embroidery. Kanatitza is a universal symbol, which for about seven thousand years has spread to different parts of the Earth, regardless of religion and state, the Consulate General of Bulgaria in Toronto said in a Facebook post.
