site.btaFirst Bulgarian Folklore Festival Takes Place in Argentina
The Bulgarian community in Argentina held its first folklore festival. The event took place in Buenos Aires on June 25 under the patronage of the Bulgarian Embassy in Argentina, the Embassy said on its official website. Several organizations of Bulgarians from Buenos Aires took part in the festival with their ensembles – Komodoro Rivadavia (Chubut Province), and Las Brenjas (Chaco Province).
The festival was hosted by the Hristo Botev organization in Presidencia Roque Saenz Pena (Chaco Province), The Hristo Botev organization is the oldest Bulgarian organization in Argentina. It was founded 70 years ago.
The ensembles performed a concert at the National University of Southern Chaco. The folklore Festival also featured an exhibition titled "Bulgarian history through the Eyes of the Artists", prepared with the assistance of the Embassy of Bulgaria.
Stoyan Mihaylov, Ambassador of Bulgaria to Argentina, and Rayna Mandzhukova, head of the Executive Agency for Bulgarians Abroad with the Foreign Ministry, were special guests at the festival.
The last time the Bulgarians gathered in Argentina was in 1989 in Escobar, Buenos Aires Province.
