From April 17 to June 2 there will be general strike action by the French railways (SNCF), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) said on its website Monday. The strike action will take place according to a pre-determined schedule, but serious difficulties are expected in rail transport, especially during the school holidays and the May bank holidays.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs recommends that travellers in France keep up to date with train timetables on the SNCF's official website and make alternative travel arrangements if possible.
