Bulgarian tennis talent Iva Ivanova won her quarterfinal of the girls' singles draw at the Australian Open against Britain's Mingge Xu on Friday, however, she lost the semifinal to Australia's Emerson Jones later that day.
Ivanova's match with Mingge Xu was scheduled to be played on Thursday, however, poor weather conditions meant that it had to be postponed at the end of the first set until the following day. The 17-year-old Bulgarian eventually scored a 6:4, 6:3 victory on Friday.
Hours later, Ivanova had to face sixthseed Emerson Jones, who plays for Australia. The Bulgarian athlete failed to muster the energy needed and lost 4:6, 1:6 after an hour and five minutes on court.
In the final, Jones will play top-seed Renata Jamrichova from Slovakia.
