Economy and Industry Minister Peter Dilov and employer organizations in Bulgaria will collaborate to improve the business climate, accelerate economic growth, and reduce administrative burdens on companies, the Ministry of Economy and Industry’s press service said here on Tuesday.
Dilov and his team met with representatives of organizations within the Association of Bulgarian Employers' Organizations (ABEO) to discuss key sector challenges, including regulatory reforms, cutting bureaucracy, restoring macroeconomic stability, and enhancing the competitiveness of Bulgarian industry.
Employer representatives expressed strong support for Bulgaria’s accession to the eurozone and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), with the Economy Ministry playing a central role in the process.
The meeting also underscored the importance of maintaining Bulgaria’s current tax model, which was described as a key strength of the national economy.
As part of their joint efforts, the ministry and employer organizations agreed to reactivate the National Economic Council (NEC) under the Minister of Economy and Industry. A structured plan with priorities and deadlines will be developed to guide NEC’s work, which was recognized as an important mechanism for advancing measures to enhance the business environment.
Restoring trust in Bulgaria as a reliable economic partner and an attractive investment destination remains a top government priority, Dilov said. "We will align with EU-level priorities and actively work to attract investments, digitize enterprises, and address regional economic disparities," he added.
