Regulator to Consider 9% Increase in Electricity Price for Households from January 1

A public meeting to discuss a report on the adjustment of electricity prices approved by a decision of the Energy and Water Regulatory Commission (EWRC) of June 30 2024 will take place on Wednesday It will be followed by a public consultation.

The EWRC report says that the average increase in electricity prices for different power companies in Bulgaria could be up by 8.99%. The report says that prices would increase by 8.92% for Electrohold, 8.96% for EVN Bulgaria, 9.15% for Energo-Pro and 7.83% for ESP Golden Sands. According to the regulator, these changes are in line with market trends and reflect the complex influence of factors such as demand, production costs and regulatory requirements.

The report also says that the EWRC has been informed by energy companies about objective factors that occurred during the current price period, which determine the increase in electricity costs.
