The acting Chair of the Bulgarian National Audit Office (NAO), Goritsa Grancharova-Kozhareva, attended the 30th anniversary celebration of the Croatian State Audit Office, the NAO said in a press release on Friday.
The event took place in Zagreb from November 20 to 21 and brought together representatives from academia, government, and supreme audit institutions (SAIs) from Central and Southeastern Europe. Attending the event were EUROSAI former chair Miloslav Kala, EUROSAI Incoming Chair Lyubomir Andrassy, the heads of the Supreme Audit Institutions (SAIs) from Malta, Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, North Macedonia, and Kosovo.
Croatia's State Auditor General Ivan Klesic reviewed the development of Croatia's SAI since its founding in 1994, highlighting the institution's role in supporting Croatia’s European integration. The achievements of the Croatian SAI were presented in a comprehensive monograph covering various aspects of its work.
Grancharova-Kozhareva and Klesic discussed opportunities to continue the successful cooperation between the Bulgarian and Croatian SAIs. Both institutions previously worked together on two twinning projects to help build capacity for the SAI of North Macedonia. They also discussed the possibility of conducting a joint audit on migration-related issues.
Additionally, Grancharova-Kozhareva and Hrvoje Tvrtkovic, the General Auditor of the SAI of Bosnia and Herzegovina, agreed to collaborate on IT audits and quality management in auditing, in line with the new international auditing standard ISSAI 140.
