Caretaker Minister of Regional Development and Public Works Violeta Koritarova Friday said the weather conditions will enable the planned repairs to be completed in Pamporovo, Borovets and Bansko to ensure connectivity to the mountain resorts for the winter season. She was speaking at a conference on international connectivity as the key to sustainable growth of Bulgarian tourism.

The forum was organized in Sofia by the Bulgaria National Board of Tourism and the Tourism Ministry.

According to Koritarova, the topic of regional connectivity is key in view of the past summer and the upcoming winter tourist season.

The Minister also noted that thanks to Bulgaria's geographical position the country has the opportunity to develop tourism, but at the same time its sustainable development is linked to ensuring transport connectivity.

Koritarova stressed the importance of developing the land transport network and connecting all regions. She also said that there are many challenges for the Road Infrastructure Agency (RIA) because many objects have to be built.

"We are pleased that we have reactivated the RIA’s work on creating connectivity between the regions, because it provides opportunities for the tourism sector. Every region, town, village has something to show as long as there is connectivity and you go to those regions," Koritarova said.
