site.btaSofia Hosts Forum on New Genomic Techniques and Innovations in Food Packaging
A national business forum on food taste and quality is held on Wednesday at the House of Science and Technology in Sofia for the sixteenth time. The event is organized by the Union of Food Industry (UFI) at the Federation of Scientific and Technical Unions in Bulgaria.
Wednesday's round table is divided into two panels, which will discuss the topics of new genomic techniques and food packaging. UFI President Dr. Svetla Chamova noted that the Union's mission is to be a reliable provider of information.
According to her, there is good food on the market, and information can be found on the labels, which people should read. It is the identity card of each product, Chamova said.
"We think the time has come to provide more accessible and understandable information on this topic so painful for society - new genomic techniques and safety," said Dr. Milena Krastanova, editor-in-chief of Veterinary Assembly magazine, who moderated the first panel.
The moderator of the second panel is Jana Velichkova, Executive Director of the Bulgarian Soft Drinks Association.
The participants in the forum discuss the common vision and what is needed to solve the real problems regarding the quality of food offered on the Bulgarian market. All the opinions and suggestions from the event will be summarized and sent to the relevant authorities.
