site.btaPrime Minister Glavchev Inspects Botevgrad-Mezdra Road

"By the end of the year the repair of the Botevgrad-Mezdra section will be completed. After that, the builders have promised that the traffic will flow in one lane. Let's show understanding and tolerance to make things happen," caretaker Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev said on Wednesday, quoted in a Cabinet statement. He and caretaker Regional Development and Public Works Minister Violeta Koritarova checked the necessity of the closure of the road section connecting the towns of Botevgrad and Mezdra (Northwest Bulgaria).

Prime Minister Glavchev called on the people to show patience so that the repair work on the section could be completed.

Minister Violeta Koritarova stressed that the closure of the road is necessary in order to complete the facilities on the road. "There was no other option. Our goal was to close early. We did thorough analyses, there is no way to ensure safety of travel and safety for construction workers at the same time," Minister Koritarova added.

If there are delays in the implementation of the repairs, sanctions will be imposed on the contractor, she said.
